COVID-19 Information

As many of you are aware the COVID-19 pandemic is having an unprecedented impact on our community and it is causing significant and temporary interruptions to our personal and professional lives. In an effort to reduce the risk of transmission and to stop the spread of the virus, many businesses and industries have been forced to close. Unfortunately, the dental industry has not been immune to these impacts and changes.

As of 26 March 2020, the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) supported the recommendation for all dental practices to operate at Level 3 restrictions. What this essentially means, is that dental clinics have been mandated to provide limited emergency dental care only.

Due to the transmission routes of the virus, there is a high risk of transmission within the dental setting. Dental practitioners need to consider the risk environment and public health safety when deciding on the treatment options for patients at this stage.

The virus can be easily aerosolised – which means that any dental procedure that creates aerosols should be completely avoided or used in a very limited capacity. As of 26 March 2020, W Dental Baldivis will only be able to offer LIMITED EMERGENCY DENTAL CARE ONLY.

As of 29 March 2020, due to Level 3 restrictions on dental practice, W Dental Baldivis will open by appointment only on Mondays and Thursdays, for the indefinite future. The restriction on dental practice is aiming to reduce the number of people that are out and about, to reduce the risk of transmission and spread. Any routine dental procedures should be deferred until this crisis is over. Any patient who suffers from chronic underlying medical conditions, or elderly patients should avoid coming into the clinic for the foreseeable future.

If you are experiencing severe dental pain or swelling, you can be assessed and managed according to Level 3 restrictions. Depending on the severity of symptoms, we may not be able to treat you. Please be prepared to have a consultation and assessment, before being told if you can receive treatment. Please do not hesitate to contact our rooms on 08 9523 0552 for more information regarding your specific situation. As we will only be open on Mondays and Thursdays, if your call is not answered, please leave your name and number on our voicemail and we will endeavour to call you back within the week.

You may also book an appointment via our website or Health Engine, however, please be aware that these appointments are primarily for an assessment. You may not be able to receive treatment in these appointments.  Thank you for you ongoing understanding and patience during these difficult and unprecedented times. Please stay safe and look after yourselves and your families.
